NFSA Projects

Interpretive Trails

Wes Skiles Peacock Springs State Park is home to an award-winning interpretive trail that takes park visitors on a virtual cave dive!  The mile-long trail overlays water-filled passages and kiosks along the way bring the world beneath your feet to life!  In 2017, work will begin on a trail in Lafayette Blue Springs State Park.

Fauna Counts

A team of trained volunteers have been collecting data on the creatures that live in the underground caves of our parks for over ten years.  Data is shared with state water managers as they work hard to maintain the health and balance in our aquifer.

Eco-Day at the Parks

Every year the North Florida Springs Alliance conducts a half day of maintenance and repairs at one of the five parks in the Alliance.  Projects include painting and staining park buildings, repairing park infrastructure and any other projects needed at the park.  Volunteers are rewarded with a tasty lunch each year!

Steps & Boardwalks

Visitors come from all over to enjoy the natural beauty of our state parks.  To minimize erosion and impacts to the various ecosystems in each park, volunteers for the North Florida Springs Alliance build steps and boardwalks at many of our parks.

Tank Benches

Many of our parks have underground cave systems, which draw thousands of cave divers to the parks.  In an effort to minimize any impact on the natural resources, our members build special benches for divers to use to assemble and disassemble their diving equipment.

Volunteer Form

Be sure to download the “Volunteer Hours” form and keep track of the hours you put in on any NFSA project.  Hours tracked and reported to the Florida Park Service help with funding for our state parks!
